Choose Now. And Now. And…

This moment is a Wheel. It moves forward, clockwise, rolling toward the Future. It pauses — or rather, I slow my consciousness so that it appears to pause. I stand at the Center, the crossroads of the World. A million or more spokes radiate from this instance of time/space, which I call Now.

At the Center of the Wheel — within my own heart — burns Source energy. It is a substance that traces its ancestral lineage to the Big Bang, what theologian Thomas Berry names the “primordial flaring forth.” It is Light.

From the Center of this Great Wheel, I scry in multiple directions all at ones. In the casting forth of Vision, the Light illuminates the uncountable spokes that radiate from the Center. Each spoke is a possible Future. My consciousness follows the Light, and I attempt to live each path, all possibilities, simultaneously. I schism; the Light prisms. I breathe. I ground. I return, wholly, to the Center, to Now.

I choose the One Path, which leads me out of Now into the Unknown, into Mystery, into the Future. In the moment of my choosing, I die to all the possibilities that were not chosen, will not be lived. In the moment of my choosing, I am reborn. There is a new Now. And it, too, is a Great Wheel, with its million or more offspring. The Now is fecund, fertile with the Future.

The Future is but a phantasm of Vision. It can never be lived. It is not its design. The Future is meant to beckon, to call, to entice a choosing. There is only Now. And Now. And Now. Each moment is perennially pregnant. Each moment is a crossroads of choice, ever unfolding the Infinite.

This moment is a Wheel…
